THIS IS OUR LAST WEEK OF WORK!!! EVERYTHING IS DUE JUNE 3, 2020.
This has been an interesting 4th quarter! Please end the year strong and finish by turning in all of your work, you can do it, only one more week. Please check missing assignments because I had a few no names and a few that turned in packets with the work not completed. Those packets are at the packet handout today. Next week you will only turn in work. Remember just like every week, your weekly directions and handouts are all posted here.
ALSO...ELA students need to send three book reports to my email: [email protected], one can be Anne Frank, one can be Holes and the other one should be a book that you have read on your own during the quarantine. Write a half page summary on a google doc and share with me, you will see the assignment on aeries .

GOOD MORNING 6TH GRADERS!!!!! Wow time flies and we only have this packet and one more. For those of you in my reading group I will be putting the test for Anne Frank on Google Classroom, so do not turn in books yet. I wanted to give everyone a chance to finish reading before I put the test out there. That will be posted the last week because I am waiting for more of the section 5 questions to be turned in. Please remember turn in your work including the PE activity log if you are in my homeroom. Turn it in and you get full credit nothing is counted late as long as you turn it in completed!!! The Anne Frank Legacy that you are supposed to read is here(where it says Download File) Just click on it and the pages will show. The way I have been downloading pages is not working this morning, I apologize. The Downloaded File below that should be the 10-1 guided reading page. |

Here is the Anne Frank movie that I would have shown in class. Yes, it is black and white (look at the date) it was very expensive to make color movies back then. Also, the black and white adds to the mood of the movie. There is another version made in 2009 that is color, though it is PG-13, you will need to ask permission and from your parents. Also I do not know that it will be free. It is a long movie, and it is okay to watch it over a couple of days.

After a teachers meeting via google hangouts, I wanted to let you know a few things.
For 4th quarter, our big focus will be ELA . ELA and reading are going to be one class. So if you were in Mrs. Neff's class, you will be getting your ELA and reading from her. We have had some confusion with some students getting the wrong packets. Mr. Barcus will be setting up 4th quarter gradebooks differently, ELA/Reading together.
This means that my reading group, who has already started Anne Frank, you will continue to have weekly questions and I will be adding a grammar component after Easter vacation, and of course vocabulary.com! This will be ELA and reading, no amplify for 4th quarter.
Please send assignments to my email address , you can take pictures, share, do what you can so that everyone can stay home so that we can beat this virus!!!
Social studies will be similar, read a section and complete the guided reading page. Please take a picture if you can and email to me.
I will be giving to links to videos to watch to enhance your understanding of Rome.
Very important to look for in the coming days...I am going to have office hours and will set up some kind of video chat interaction like google hangouts. I have not decided if I will add zoom , I have to do more research before I use it.

Just want to give information on a big assignment coming up. All 6th graders are going to start a journal. I will download the details. You must start by April 1, 2020. If you start early I will give extra credit. This journal will continue through the reading of Anne Frank and 4th quarter. Just to be clear, this is for ALL students. Email me any questions. I miss you guys.
Please take a moment and look at the description of the journal and ELA for the next 2 weeks.

Good morning, and don't forget to read.
At home, I have come up with a schedule for my own kids and myself.
1. Workout or 40 minutes, it is mile Monday, but it is also raining. If it stops, go for jog/walk with parent permission of course.
I like to do this first, it gives me more energy during the day. Cook yourself breakfast (a very important meal).
2. Vocabulary.com is great way to keep challenging your brain. I did it for 30 minutes today and completed the two Holes assignments
a Call of the Wild assignment. I thought it was fun. READ. Remember what we learned about Jack London? He was not in regular school for many years, but became a great author due to his incredible use of vocabulary because he spent hours and hours reading every single day. I read for an hour this morning.
3. If you have missing assignments on Aeries, do them!!!! Email me a list of any amplify work or screenshot a finished vocabulary.com assignment. Bring in any missing work to the office on Wednesday.
Stay healthy and practice social distancing.

Reading: For my students reading Holes, I have vocabulary/question packets in the office available on Wednesday.
Continue reading 30 minutes a day, and we also have some great books available in the office to read.
Social studies: Tests for chapter 8 cannot be retaken, if you were absent it is an excused assignment. Please turn in your notebooks and all missing work to the office by this Wednesday March 18 or the following Wednesday, March 25, 2020. I have some social studies packets to work on while we are out of school. We cannot continue with the Greek Philosopher reports due to the fact that I will not be available to guide along the way, and those students who do not have internet, and students with IEP's.
Vocabulary.com: I have given you a new assignment due March 31. Please go into your account through CLEVER.
Amplify: Please complete any missing assignments, and email me with a list when you are finished. All work is due by March 31. Make sure you HAND IN. Thank you. No new Amplify assignments for the rest of our time off.
Typing.com remember go into this on CLEVER. Complete two lessons per day and one activity (game).
PE: Walk every day for 20 minutes, run a mile at least once a week.

Week of 5/20/19- 5/24/19
This our week for state testing. Please make sure that your student comes to school well-rested, eats a good breakfast and is on time. I will allow healthy snacks to be eaten during the test, but absolutely NO GUM. We will have one two hour session each day and our schedule will allow us to have all classes during the week. This is a great week to catch up on AR reading and catch up work.
Monday: ELA CAT test (state testing) AR library time in afternoon
Tuesday: ELA performance task (state testing), Social studies quiz in the afternoon. Also time to work on Titanic Passenger slide show presentation due June 3.

This our week for state testing. Please make sure that your student comes to school well-rested, eats a good breakfast and is on time. I will allow healthy snacks to be eaten during the test, but absolutely NO GUM. We will have one two hour session each day and our schedule will allow us to have all classes during the week. This is a great week to catch up on AR reading and catch up work.
